Construction begins on Atlanta airport canopies
ATLANTA (AP) — Officials say construction is getting started on new canopies at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
The first round of work starts Saturday and will lead to some lane closures in front of the airport's north terminal. Airport officials say a lane at the south terminal will close on Oct. 30.
Officials say the closures won't affect access to parking garages or lots and will have "minimal impact" on people dropping off or picking up airport passengers.
The canopies are expected to be completed in late 2018 and will shield people from the weather. The project also includes new pedestrian bridges from parking decks to the airport terminal building.
