Mom accused of killing baby with hair dryer
A Coweta County grand jury indicted Morgan Alyson Creel for murdering her baby by leaving a blow dryer running in his bed. Creel was accused of getting high and falling asleep while it happened.
COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - A Coweta County mother has been indicted for second degree murder after deputies found her infant unresponsive and suffering from severe burns from a hair dryer in 2023.
What we know:
In January 2025, a Coweta County grand jury returned an indictment against Morgan Alyson Creel, 32, for murder in the second degree and cruelty to children in the second degree.
The backstory:
On Nov. 9, 2023, Coweta County deputies said they responded to Creel’s home after she said she woke up from a nap and found her infant son unresponsive.
The report said deputies discovered the child had severe burns to his right side while trying to administer CPR.
They said the mother told them she had laid down with the baby to rest and was attempting to warm him with a hair dryer when she fell asleep with it on.
The indictment revealed the grand jury heard a different, and more disturbing, version.

What we know:
FOX 5 Atlanta reporter Doug Evans obtained a sheriff’s office video of Creel during a traffic stop in October 2024. Coincidentally, it was almost a year after the death of her baby son.
During the traffic stop, the deputy's report said Creel was weaving and could not maintain her lane. In the video, Creel could be heard telling the deputy she was sneezing, and it caused her to lose control.
Deputies said they attempted to conduct a field sobriety check, but after a few tests, they called it off for her safety.
The video showed her apparently unsteady on her feet.
