Crooks rob armored car driver
LITHONIA, Ga. - The Federal Bureau of Investigation is trying to track down two men who pulled a gun on an armored car driver and got away with his cash. It happened Saturday at 2:30 in the afternoon at the Bank of America on Turner Hill in Lithonia.
Authorities said the armored car driver was adding money to one of the ATMs when two men ran up to him, waved a gun in his face and demanded the money. Surveillance video shows the two robbers jumping in a dark colored Jeep Grand Cherokee with no tags and speeding off.
The men were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and masks and the driver didn't get a good description of them. But it's the getaway vehicle that FBI Agents believe will eventually lead them to the robbers.
“That Jeep is the key. If we can find that then we'll look for evidence from it,” said Kevin Rowson with the FBI.
The armored car driver wasn’t hurt, but was shaken. Fearing these crooks will act again, FBI agents are looking for any information from someone who may have seen something go down at the bank Saturday afternoon.
“We want to try to find these guys so we can get them off the street because who knows what's going to happen if they commit another crime like this,” said Rowson.
A reward is being offered through Atlanta Crime Stoppers.
