Man accused of killing ex-girlfriend's boyfriend arrested in Checker's parking lot

Sheriff's deputies searched for the suspect after finding a man shot dead in a Cherokee County neighborhood. The suspect was found with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A man Cherokee County deputies suspect of shooting and killing the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend is in custody after a multi-hour search. 

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office arrested 24-year-old Brakus Golden of Canton, Georgia as part of investigating into a deadly shooting Sunday night.

Deputies report that they responded to a call around 6:15 p.m. Sunday at a home off of King Arthur Drive in Woodstock. At the scene, they found a man shot to death on the sidewalk in front of the home. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Kevin Misidi.

According to investigators, Golden had a previous relationship with the victim's girlfriend who lived at the home.

With the help of technology and observant officers, Golden's car was found in Marietta on Monday morning. Police say Flock cameras picked up the license plate and Marietta police officers started searching for the vehicle. They found it in the parking lot of a Checkers fast food restaurant on Cobb Parkway.

Police say Golden had a gunshot wound to his abdomen that he claimed was self-inflicted.

Golden is now in custody with non-life-threatening injures at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. When he is released he will be booked into the Cherokee County jail.
