Police in Atlanta and Fulton County are investigating a deadly shooting that led to a fiery wreck in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 early Wednesday morning and claimed the life of a man.

Reginald Bracey, 20, of DeKalb County, died from what investigators believe was a gunshot wound he received at the Airway Motel on Fulton Industrial Boulevard around 4 a.m. Police said after Bracey was shot, his friend decided to drive him to the hospital. On the way, the car ran out of gas and stalled in the northbound lanes on the Instate 75 near Northside Drive.

A tractor trailer stopped behind the stalled car, according to police, but another vehicle crashed into the back of the truck. The driver of that vehicle suffered a skull fracture and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Police said Bracey died from his injuries.

The wreck and investigation tied up traffic in the northbound lanes of busy interstate for a couple of hours.

Fulton County police are leading the investigation into the shooting. Investigators said they believe they know who the gunman is and they are actively searching for him.
