LITHONIA, Ga. - A teen is in police custody after one person died and two other people were injured after a shooting and a crash at a Lithonia area gas station on Thursday evening.
It happened just before 7:30 p.m. at the Shell gas station located in the 6400 block of Covington Highway in DeKalb County.
Investigators with the DeKalb County Police Department spent the evening combing over and marking each of the several dozen shell casings left behind in the parking lot.
Sources told FOX 5 News the victim was 28-year-old Lithonia resident John Battle.
According to investigators Battle, a female companion, and a child were driving away from the property while a group of people got into an argument. As they were pulling away, the people in the group starting firing at each other, hitting Battle and causing him to wreck his vehicle. The other people in the vehicle were not seriously injured.
"A little boy killed my baby. A little boy," Kamylla Yancey, the sister of John Battle, said.
Police say one of the men involved in the shooting was also shot and is now hospitalized with serious injuries. The other people involved fled the scene and have not been identified.

About a half-mile of Covington Highway was blocked for several hours at Wellborn Road while police investigated and logged the scene. Traffic was being diverted around the scene.
John Battle's family members told FOX 5 they are struggling to comprehend this loss.
"I want to tell the young kids to stop playing with these guns. They are not a game. You are going to hit someone that has nothing to do with what you have going on," Yancey said.
The 14-year-old suspect is charged with armed robbery & felony murder, police said.
