ATLANTA - Atlanta police are investigating a death at Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta.
The discovery of a body was made around 8 a.m. Monday by a bicyclist who reportedly saw a pair of feet sticking out on a trail and then saw a weapon near a body.
FOX 5 Atlanta observed Atlanta Chief of Police Darin Schierbaum near the scene.
According an update from Atlanta police, it appears the person who was found may have killed themselves. The death is still under investigation at this time and police say that in some cases, detectives rely on the official autopsy reports from the medical examiner to provide clarity.
The three-year anniversary of Katherine "Katie" Janness' murder at the park was on July 28 was recently recognized by many. Katie and her dog, Bowie, were viciously murdered. That crime is still unsolved.
