Deputies investigate murder-suicide

The Haralson County Sheriff's Office said two children are in foster care after a man shot and killed his estranged wife before turning the gun on himself.

The Haralson County Sheriff's Office said deputies are investigating deaths on Wednesday believed to be related to a murder-suicide.

Investigators responded to 100 block of Beaver Run Road in the southwest area of the county just before 1 p.m. after receding a 911 call from a child inside the home who told authorities her father had threatened to shoot her mother. Investigators said shortly after, multiple shots were heard being fired inside the home.

Investigators believe Johnny Franklin Brown II, 36, shot and killed his estranged wife, 35-year-old Christa Lee Brown, before turning the gun on himself.

"Murder suicides are one of the hardest for us to work in that there are no real answers as to the why. Tonight, two families are grieving, and four children have lost both parents in this horrible traumatic incident. Please join me in praying for these children and these families," said Sheriff Stacy Williams.

The two children inside the home at the time were taken into custody with the Department of Family and Children Services. The children, whose ages were not released, will be placed with foster families. The sheriff has asked the public to keep the children in their thoughts and prayers.
