DECATUR, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - More controversy surrounding and an already controversial Confederate monument in Decatur.

Crews spent part of Monday morning trying to remove red paint someone threw on the statue over the weekend.

This is the same monument which DeKalb County commissioners want to remove from the city square.

Officials say two other statues outside the courthouse were the statue sits were also vandalized.
