A multi-agency effort to crack down on criminals is underway in DeKalb County.

The five-day operation Safe DeKalb 2016 will end at midnight Friday. Eighteen agencies and 200 officers are participating.

As of Thursday, they have arrested 101 individuals, 21 of whom are wanted for serious crimes, such as murder, rape, and armed robbery.

In all, officers are serving 1,500 arrest warrants.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann said this is the second consecutive year they’ve done this.

He said citizens have said they don’t feel safe in their homes, and law enforcement is stepping up their efforts.
