Police said it was a failed robbery attempt that finally landed a woman behind bars.

DeKalb County officers arrested Chaquilla Bartley, 29, Saturday morning after she allegedly tried to hold up a Days Inn on Northlake Parkway.

"She approached the clerk and told the clerk that she was armed and demanded money," said DeKalb Police Spokesperson Shiera Campbell. "The clerk basically said to her, 'Show me a weapon.'"

According to investigators, Bartley stayed at the hotel for several minutes, but finally gave up and left.  By that time police were on scene and arrested her for not just the attempted robbery at the Days Inn, but also for two armed robberies at the Waffle House just down the street.

Surveillance video captured a woman who police believe is Bartley, robbing the restaurant on July 24 and again on July 28. Each time police said Bartley claimed to have a gun.

"She would have continued. We believe that she had done the two Waffle House robberies as well as this motel, so more than likely she was going to re-up her cash," Campbell explained.
