DeKalb County Water sends bills for service

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County said 8,500 water bills are in the mail.

County chief executive Michael Thurmond said those bills have gone through an independent verification process and are accurate.

The New Day Project was started earlier this year with a goal of restoring customer trust in the DeKalb County Water billing system.

Since October of last year, tens of thousands of water bills have been inaccurate.

Water department officials said they had to review all water customer accounts in order to determine that meter readings, water consumption and billing data matched.
