During the chase, the suspect, 29-year-old Douglas County resident John Brown, slammed on his brakes, hit an innocent bystander, and caused a four-car crash. One deputy drove into a ditch. A second deputy hit the Brown's car.
"Chaos, it was crazy," said Jessica Bailey, who witnessed the aftermath.
Bailey lives nearby and got the call there had just been a crash outside her rental property.
"We saw all the police and we knew it was bad," said Bailey.
Brown was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon. His passenger, 35-year old Tisha Landers from Douglasville, has been airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital after being cut out of the car.
"If he would have stopped none of this would have happened," said Bailey.
The trooper, 44-year-old Buford Young, has been treated and released with minor sprains.
Haralson and Carroll County have issued warrants for Brown for two counts of causing serious injury, fleeing and eluding, and multiple traffic counts.
"You can't help for people being dumb sometimes," said Bailey.
Investigators said Brown is also wanted in Douglas County for violating his probation. Records indicate he served two prison sentences for crimes he's committed in Douglas County.
