Deputy's son arrested in LA church fires

The son of a St. Landry Parish sheriff's deputy is in custody this morning in connection with recent church fires in the Louisiana Parish.

According to our New Orleans Fox affiliate, multiple law enforcement sources confirm that the suspect is 21-year old Holden Matthews who was taken into custody Wednesday evening.

The fire all took place in St. Landry Parish at historically black churches between March 26th and April 4th. Church officials say they believe their churches were targeted.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal announced a press conference for Thursday to update the public on the investigation into the three church fires.

The press conference is set for 11 a.m. EST and Governor John Bel Edwards is expected to attend.
