Man killed in fall, woman shot in downtown Atlanta's hotel district

ATLANTA - A man is dead, and a woman critically injured following a violent incident Friday afternoon near the Hilton Atlanta in the city’s hotel district.

Officers from the Atlanta Police Department (APD) were dispatched to 250 Piedmont Ave. NE, near John Portman Boulevard, at approximately 2:24 p.m., after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had fallen from a window of the building and had died. Investigators suggest the fall may have been self-inflicted.

Inside a residence at the same location, police found a woman who had sustained injuries consistent with being shot and stabbed. She was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Aerial footage from SKYFOX 5 captured the scene shortly after 4 p.m., showing a line of police cars and emergency vehicles near the Hilton Atlanta, with officers combing the area behind the hotel.

The APD Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
