Drone helps lead to armed suspect who fled Peachtree City police stop

A Jonesboro man fleeing from police on New Year’s Day was captured, in part, with the help of a nighttime flying drone.

Tyrese Bullard, 25, was pulled over near the intersection of Georgia Highway 74 and Kedron Drive on Jan. 1. According to the Peachtree City Police Department, inside the vehicle were Bullard’s girlfriend and a pistol that officers spotted inside her purse.

The couple was asked to get out of the car after officers said they smelled marijuana inside the car.

The body camera video released to FOX 5 shows what happened next. Police said Bullard grabbed the purse with the gun and tried to make a run for it.

Police said they had a possibly armed and dangerous man on the run in a neighborhood.

Police deployed a recently purchased drone with a thermal camera, and they said they located Bullard within a few minutes in the woods behind a home in the subdivision.

The drone video shows officers and a police K-9 on the ground closing in on Bullard for the arrest.

Bullard and his passenger, Cherice Ingram from Atlanta, were charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Police said the gun was reported stolen in Henry County.

Investigators said Bullard faces other charges as well for running from police.
