Drug charges against all but one at lingerie party dropped

All but one of the 65 people arrested at a lingerie birthday party in northwest Georgia have had their charges against them dropped. That according to the district attorney’s office which made the announcement Friday.

Officers charged all the party-goers with having less than an ounce of marijuana, which sparked outrage with the NAACP and confusion over how much marijuana was actually at the party.

Deja Heard threw the party for herself. Cartersville Police said they responded to a call of shots fired in the vicinity of the house party that happened here on Cain Drive. In their report, officers stated they smelled marijuana and saw some weed, no amount was specified, in plain view.

They later released these pictures of a semi-automatic handgun and other evidence they said came from the scene before the arrests were made.

The Bartow County District Attorney's Office released the following statement on Friday:

“The District Attorney’s Office has reviewed the files pertaining to the arrest of sixty-five individuals for possession of marijuana on December 31, 2017. The review concludes the evidence is insufficient to convict sixty-four of the sixty-five charged. Accordingly, charges against those sixty-four individuals have been dismissed.”

It was not immediately clear which sole individual will be charged or if others would be charged in connection to the other evidence collected at the scene.
