DUI driver kills woman, 2 children in Bartow crash

A woman and two young children were killed and another girl injured after a driver under the influence crashed into their vehicle on Georgia Highway 20 in Bartow County.

The wreck happened around 11:35 p.m Saturday.

Georgia State Patrol officials say Scottie Worfford, the driver of a pick-up truck, hit the back of a jeep, causing both vehicles to end up in the median.

Three people in the jeep were killed, including an 11-month-old, a two-year-old and 25-year-old Deneisha Washington. An eight-year-old girl, also inside the jeep, was injured in the accident and air lifted to Egleston Children’s Hospital.

Officials say Worfford was hurt in the crash and transported to Cartersville Medical Center. He is charged with three counts of first degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence, and following too closely.
