Earthquake felt in middle Georgia
ATLANTA - A 2.5 earthquake was felt in central Georgia Wednesday night, according to the United State Geological Survey.
It happened around 9:38 p.m. about 4 miles west-southwest of Sparta, in Hancock County. That’s a little more than 80 miles away from Atlanta and about halfway between Macon and Augusta.
USGS officials said the incident happened about 5 miles under the surface of the earth.
No word on any damage or injuries.
