East Point police investigate murder-suicide

Police in East Point have opened an investigation into what may have prompted a murder-suicide outside a Walmart Sunday morning.

According to investigators, a female employee arrived at the Cleveland Avenue store around 5:00 a.m. and a man confronted her with a gun.  The man shot and killed her before taking his own life.  Detectives believe it was a domestic dispute, but were not sure of the exact relationship between the man and woman.

“That's horrible. I feel bad and I feel like it may be somebody that I knew,” said Shetica Woods, who stopped by the store Sunday evening. “I shop here every day, every night. So, I’m constantly interacting with the employees. I hope it wasn’t somebody that I knew. Wow. That’s sad.”

Police have not released the names of those involved, pending notification of next of kin.
