East Point violent night

An East Point apartment complex has two separate violent crimes in one night, police said.

Police in East Point believe a stabbing and deadly shooting at the same apartment complex just hours apart were connected.

Officials tell FOX 5 officers were called to an apartment complex located in the 3,000 block of Washington Road around 4 p.m. Wednesday after reports of a stabbing.

At the apartments, officials found a male 18-year-old at the entrance to the complex with several stab wounds. Medics rushed him to Grady Hospital for treatment.

Hours later, at around 7:35 p.m. officers once again went to the apartment complex after reports of a shooting. There they found a nonresponsive middle-aged man lying with a gunshot wound in the courtyard.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators tell FOX 5 they believe the dead man was possibly the suspect involved in the earlier stabbing.

If you have information about either crime, please call East Point police at 404-761-2177.
