DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A DeKalb County elderly woman died Friday morning after firefighters pulled her from a burning home.
It happened along Park Gate Place near Stone Mountain.
According to DeKalb County Fire Captain Dion Bentley, firefighters found the woman in her bedroom suffering from severe burns and smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were able to pull the woman out and perform CPR before she was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. According to Bentley, the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officials said the woman's dog was also killed in the fire.
Investigators are now working to determine what caused the fire to start.
