Elgin HS football field damaged after fertilizer, weed killer mix-up
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - This would never happen to groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons.
The grass on the St. Edward High School football field in Elgin is almost completely brown.
The school says the company that maintains the field was supposed to fertilize it, but instead put down weed killer. About two-thirds of the field is now brown.
St. Edward has four more home games this season. The game this Friday could be moved to Elmhurst, or it could still be played on the brown turf.
It won't look good, but St. Edwards’ officials say player safety is the top priority.
