BUCKHEAD - Loved ones will gather for the funeral of a mother and grandmother found stabbed to death in her Buckhead garage. Her son, Michael, discovered his mother's body after traveling to Buckhead from Washington D.C. to prepare for the holidays.
"We had a ton of things that we were getting ready to do together," Michael told FOX 5.

Days later, police arrested Brown and charged him with her murder, as well as aggravated assault. Police named him a suspect in a robbery at a nearby liquor store, which happened the same day as the murder.
"This person was progressively doing worse and worse things, and it took, unfortunately, the worst thing imaginable to finally get him caught," Michael said.

As the community copes with such a senseless loss, her death has become part of the ongoing debate on whether Buckhead should become its own city, receiving its own police department.
"She did feel safe. She did. And that’s not unique to Buckhead, I think most of us feel safe in our homes and what we want to explain to people or help people understand is none of us right now are safe as we think we are," her son told FOX 5.
The funeral for 77-year-old Ellen Bowles is Sunday at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in northwest Atlanta. Funeral services begin at 2 p.m. and it will be streamed live on the church's Facebook page and YouTube channel.
