WALLER, Texas - The internet has fallen in love with a rescue dog with a big, adorable, toothy grin in Waller, Texas.
The dog named Cheech was brought into the shelter on Friday and the shelter posted photos of little Cheech smiling for the camera. "He's super sweet and knows how to smile when you ask him to," the shelter posted on its Facebook page.
They've received lots of messages from people wanting to adopt him and have an application process to adopt him.
The shelter, founded by first responders and residents in the city, is in an old renovated jail and isn't open to the public until November. It is entirely volunteer and donation-based and is the first no-kill shelter in the city and county, the shelter says.
Leah Sipe, the director of the shelter and a Waller police officer, says volunteers didn't know what to make of Cheech's toothy grin at first. "The smiling scared a couple of the volunteers as they mistook it for snarling, and they were mortified when I stuck my hand in his cage on the day we got him in," Sipe laughed. "He's an awesome little guy!"
To adopt Cheech, fill out the application form here. You can also donate to the shelter, which has its Grand Opening event Sunday, Nov. 12, here.
