February 26, 2020 is Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, Feb. 26, marks Ash Wednesday, the start of the 40-day period of lent before Easter. 

Priests will place ashes on the foreheads of worshippers in the shape of a cross, as a sign of repentance, and confessing their sins as well as love for God. 

The ashes are often made from burnt palm branches.
