PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - A FedEx worker in Ohio died from injuries he sustained after falling out of a moving truck while trying to close the vehicle's door.
Pepper Pike Police said on July 14, officers were dispatched to Interstate 271 in response to a man falling out of a FedEx box truck.,
The victim, 20-year-old Noah Fletcher, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the FedEx truck said Noah was riding as a passenger when he got up and attempted to close the truck's right side door as the vehicle was moving.
The driver said he slowed down as Noah got up from his seat; however, he fell out through the door opening and hit the roadway while the truck was still in motion.
Police looked at the in-truck surveillance cameras. They said the truck had hit a bump in the roadway which caused the door to open. They said the video didn't actually show Noah falling out of the truck, but it did show the driver quickly braking and leaving the truck.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends mourning the loss of our team member, Noah Fletcher," FedEx said in a statement to FOX Television Stations. "Safety is our highest priority, and we have fully cooperated with the investigating authorities."
