Gwinnett County firefighters battled a "large house fire" on Lebanon Road NW near Duluth Highway in Lawrenceville early Friday morning.

According to Gwinnett County's fire department, the fire destroyed the 15,000-square-foot, two-story home.

It began in the basement before burning through the first and second floors. Firefighters say they used multiple hose lines to fight the fire. Then, they searched the empty structure and found no one was living there.

The Gwinnett County fire team enlisted the help of a chopper to fly over the home and drop 100-gallons of water from a nearby lake. The helicopter made 22 passes before the flames were under control.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. No injuries were reported.
