Firefighters in Gwinnett County have successfuly put out a blaze in a downtown Lawrenceville gun range.

Fire crews were called to the business on the 200 block of West Crogan Street at 10:18 Saturday morning. When they got to the location, firefighters say they could see the heavy smoke coming out of the front door of the two-story buidling.

Officials say the fire was especially dangerous due to the unconventional floorplan and the material inside the building that kept heat trapped inside.

Fire crews had to ventilate the building by cutting open portions of the room. Thankfully, the fire was exinguished in less than an hour.

Investigators say the blaze started in a range which was designed for rifles.

No one was reported injured and the retail section of the business was not affected.
