FORECAST: Waves of rain will pass through during the morning hours Thursday. Some of the rain will be quite heavy and reduce visibility on the roads, making travel difficult. As we transition into the afternoon hours, there will be more breaks in the rain and it will get lighter. The rain will gradually clear from the northwest during the afternoon. This means the evening rush hour should be dry and not as challenging.
Storm total rainfall may reach 2” to 3” in some areas. This puts areas near, west, and north of Atlanta under a Flood Watch until 7:00 p.m. Watch for ponding of water on roadways and for flood-prone areas to experience minor flooding.
Much colder air will be on the way for Friday and the weekend, but don't expect it to last long. Highs by Christmas week will climb back into the 60's with some spots near 70. Expect showers to return next Tuesday and Wednesday.
