A Melbourne woman is fortunate she and her two small dogs weren't hurt after a close encounter with a large snake on Monday.

Leisa Remsberg says she was letting her dogs out in her yard when she noticed that one of them approached something large. She then saw the giant snake rear up its head, and acted fast.

Luckily, the dog wasn't hurt, but Remsberg was certainly terrified.

A neighbor who has experience with snakes reportedly came over and put the 9-foot-long snake in a container.

Wildlife officials later said it was a green anaconda, which can grow up to 20 feet when they are fully grown.

They scanned the snake for a microchip to see if it has an owner.

An update Tuesday from Investigator Damon Saunders of Florida Fish and Wildlife said the snake would be pickled and put on display in a Brevard County museum.
