It is now being called the worst flu season in nearly a decade and the virus continues to sweep across the nation.

In Georgia, more than two dozen people have died from the virus this season alone.

Almost 700 Georgians have landed in the hospital due to the unusually bad strain spreading this year.

Across the country, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday that schools in at least 11 states have closed anywhere from a day to a week as they deal with the effects of this winter's flu.

Among the states that have seen school closures are Alabama and Florida.
