Former Athens-Clarke County police officer arrested for sexual exploitation of children
JACKSON COUNTY, Ga. - Amber Nicole Ferguson, 33, of Commerce, has been arrested and charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children. Ferguson, a former officer with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, turned herself in to the Jackson County Jail at 8 a.m. Jan. 15.
What we know:
Ferguson is accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of a child, according to the GBI. The investigation began after the City of Commerce Police Department requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on Dec. 1, 2024, following a complaint filed by a family member.
