Former Atlanta mayor and senior advisor to former President Joe Biden, Keisha Lance Bottoms, says she's 99% sure she wants to run for Georgia governor.
ATLANTA - Atlanta's former mayor, who served in the Biden Administration, says she's strongly considering a run for Georgia governor after claiming President Donald Trump is already failing to deliver on his campaign promises.

"I don't think there are many people who are against people who have violent criminal records being deported if they are in the country illegally. When I see the raids, I immediately think of the families that are left behind, and it's reminiscent of family separation policies that I had to deal with when I was mayor of Atlanta," Keisha Lance Bottoms said.

Bottoms resigned earlier this month from a White House job on the President's Export Council. She stresses she resigned, and even showed FOX 5 Atlanta a letter from President Biden thanking her for her service.
"I had already resigned. I sent in my resignation letter the first week of January saying it was effective Jan. 20, and it also was an unpaid position," the former mayor said.
Still, on Jan. 21, President Trump posted on his Truth social media site that he fired Bottoms.
She also says she wants to answer critics who claim she quit her mayoral job.
"I think people forget that mayors are elected to a four-year term. I finished my term. If we want people to serve as mayor for eight years, we should make sure that they are elected to an eight-year term," the former mayor said.

What's next:
In a surprise move, Bottoms says she is seriously contemplating a run for Georgia governor in 2026.
She says before she makes her final decision, she has a couple of things to complete first, including a new book that will be out soon.
