A former Douglas County jailer has been arrested on charges of sexual assault following an internal investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Jayavierre Johnson, 34, faces three counts of sexual assault by a correctional/juvenile facility employee for allegedly engaging in sexual relations with an inmate during his tenure at the facility.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson was fired and arrested on Dec. 11 after an internal affairs investigation revealed Johnson had sex with inmates during their time at the jail.

"This kind of behavior will not be tolerated," said Pounds. "I want my employees and the public to know that we are committed to transparency, professionalism, and protecting the integrity of this office. I will not ‘put up with no foolishness,’ and I expect the same level of accountability from everyone that works here."

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on Friday for a bond hearing. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail.
