FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. - The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of a former K9 deputy.
Tuesday morning, deputies announced the passing of Sheba. The bloodhound had been enjoying retirement with her former handler, Corporal Mitchell, but lost her battle to cancer earlier this week.
As a K9, Sheba tracked down many suspects and helped find missing people.
“Thank you for your service to our county,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
Since sharing the sad news, a number of people and Forsyth County residents have offered their condolences to Corporal Mitchell.
“So sorry for your loss,” said Sherry L. Banning. “I know how special that sweet girl was.”
