Former Georgia Southern football player pleads not guilty to Jan. 6 riot charges

Former NFL and Georgia Southern linebacker Antwione Williams has pleaded not guilty to felony charges, including assault, stemming from his alleged involvement in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Williams appeared in court Monday for his arraignment, which comes a month after his arrest.

According to the FBI, Williams, 31, was identified breaking through police barricades outside the Capitol and engaging in a physical altercation with an officer. Investigators say they were able to match his clothing from the day of the insurrection to images on his social media account.
