Former site of the Georgia Dome gets historical marker

ATLANTA - A historical marker was placed at the former site of the Georgia Dome to commemorate the role the former home of the Atlanta Falcons and former Olympic venue played in the state’s history.

The Georgia World Congress Center and the Georgia Historical Society placed the marker during a ceremony Thursday.

Over 25 years, officials said the Georgia Dome made an unforgettable mark as the facility for once-in-a-lifetime events including the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, two Super Bowls, 23 SEC Championships, and multiple community celebrations.
