CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - Four firefighters from Cherokee County are out of a job due to “bad judgment,” according to a source familiar with the incident.
The sources said the firefighters were canned over a picture controversy, decline to say what is in the images. Another source, who has seen them, used one word to describe what’s in them: “bad.” The incident took place at one of the county firehouses.
The county will not comment at this time, saying it is a pending personnel matter. The sources will not name names, but said the terminations include fire supervisors. One veteran let go has a distinguished career and just recently won praise for saving a life of a resident.
The firefighters can appeal the terminations. Cherokee County has a union. The spokesperson said he is aware of the incident, but not the details. So far, no one has come forward asking for representation.
