EMANUEL COUNTY, Ga. - A single engine plane with five people on board crashed Saturday in Emanuel County, killing four people according to the Emanuel County Coroner.
The one person who survived was taken to a trauma center in Augusta.
The plane was used for skydiving purposes and was taking off from the jumping place skydiving center in Swainsboro when it crashed at the end of the runway, according to officials.
The skydiving company is based out of Statesboro and normally takes off from the airport in Statesboro, but authorities said that airport may have been under construction.
Two of the victims were unable to be identified. All four victims who died were taken to the GBI for an autopsy.
NTSB and the Emanuel County Sheriff's Office are investigating what caused the crash.
