ATLANTA - Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat has agreed to pay $43,000 to the Georgia State Ethics Commission for violations of campaign finance laws stemming from his 2020 election campaign.

A 2023 investigation by the FOX 5 I-Team revealed that thousands of dollars in campaign funds were paid to companies created by Labat’s wife. The sheriff failed to disclose two of those companies in his personal financial disclosure statements, as required by law.

The commission cited Labat for six violations in a consent order issued Friday. Among the findings were failures to report required documentation, spending, and his involvement with the nonprofit organization "Think Twice Save a Life."

Labat, who was re-elected as Fulton County Sheriff last month, has not publicly commented on the violations.
