People in the community say that they were heartbroken for the family.
"Three years old, to lose his life. My heart goes out for the mother, the father, the entire family, and the entire community," Rev. Jared Sawyer Jr. said. "It's amazing because in three years he impacted so many people."
No arrests have been made in the case.
Earlier this week, authorities released surveillance images from a gas station where they believe the shots may have come from.
