Brandy Lancaster said she was speeding down Georgia 400 with her flashers on around 6:15 p.m. Monday, trying to get her 20-month-old son to the hospital. Over the weekend, the toddler was diagnosed with croup and strep throat, then ended up at the E.R. Saturday night after hitting his head on a tile floor.
“I was carrying him when I slipped/fell on a restaurant floor,” Lancaster said on Facebook, sharing several images of her son.
Lancaster’s son woke up with a fever Monday morning and ended up throwing up. She said as she was driving him to the emergency room, he started throwing up again, which caused him to start choking.
As she was rushing to Northside Forsyth-Cumming, a complete stranger started following her on the highway. She continued to follow the Lancasters all the way to the hospital, and into the parking lot. Then, the kindhearted stranger checked on Lancaster’s son, who was buckled in his car-seat, not responding.
“You rushed him inside the hospital and knew just what to say, to get him the help he needed,” Lancaster said. “Lord knows, his Mommy was a wreck & was not making much sense. You acted on your instinct when you definitely did not have to & for that myself and my entire family is forever grateful.”
Lancaster said in the middle of all the chaos, she never asked the nurse what her name was, so she took to Facebook in hopes of finding her.
“I never got your name nor do I recall expressing to you just how very thankful I am for everything you did and that you cared enough to help," the mother said.
Lancaster is hoping someone may recognize her story and put her in touch with the nurse. She described the nurse as a white female, in between 25 and 35 years old, and very pretty. The nurse was wearing dark navy scrubs and glasses, and she was traveling in a 4-door black Camry on GA 400 southbound between exit 15 and 14 Monday evening.
