GBI warns about fake prescription pills
ATLANTA - It is a potentially deadly crime the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is warning about.
According to investigators, the drugs look authentic and even bear the same markings as prescription drugs, but the fake pills contain different ingredients and in many cases, the potentially deadly drug fentanyl.
According to GBI lab reports, the top counterfeited pills in metro Atlanta are Xanax and oxycodone.
Nationwide, the Drug Enforcement Agency said more than two dozen people have died so far this year from taking counterfeit painkillers.
