Winter storm weather update
All eyes are on the developing winter storm heading to Georgia in the next 24 hours. Today is clear and dry, so you should stay warm and plan for possible power outages and dangerous roads on Friday and Saturday.
ATLANTA - School districts across metro Atlanta and North Georgia are closely monitoring the potential for snow and ice on Friday. Some schools have opted to close their doors altogether or transition to an online learning day. The timing of the storm plays a big factor in the decision.
All of North Georgia and parts of cental Georgia will be under a Winter Storm Watch beginning on Friday and continuing through Saturday. A watch means that heavy snow, sleet, or freezing rain is possible and that Georgians should begin preparing for possible power outages or dangerous road conditions.
The FOX 5 Storm Team is monitoring the threat of snow and ice as early as 7 a.m. Friday. This could force closures and cancelations across the state.
