Date Night Wednesdays with Paul:

Every Wednesday morning this month, we’re searching for fun and unique "date night" options — after all, Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it. And this morning, we checked in on a place where the party vibe is non-stop — and the cold winter nights feel a million miles away!

We’re talking about Miss Conduck, the Caribbean fusion restaurant opened by mother-daughter duo Emily James and LaToya Franklyn in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood. Originally from Trinidad, James and Franklyn say they wanted to bring their beloved Caribbean island culture to Atlanta, creating a vibrant dining atmosphere and a menu featuring authentic Caribbean cuisine.

So let’s talk about that menu. The owners say they’re the only restaurant at which you’ll find Doubles inside the perimeter; Doubles, in case you don’t know, are a popular Trinidadian street food featuring soft flatbreads filled with spiced chickpeas, cucumber chutney, and tamarind sauce. Other highlights include the Rasta Pasta (penne pasta tossed in house made cream jerk sauce), curry chicken and curry goat, and a Brown Stew Oxtail dish served with rice and vegetables. The bar, of course, serves up festive cocktails and mocktails — including the Cocorita (a coconut margarita) and the spirit-free Nojito.

Miss Conduck is located at 357 Edgewood Avenue Southeast in Atlanta, and regular hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays. Click here for more information on visiting the restaurant and to check out the menu.
