Car on fire at Town Brookhaven apartment parking deck, residents evacuated

DeKalb County Fire Rescue units were sent to the scene of a car far in the parking garage of the Goodwynn at Town Brookhaven Apartments on Dec. 29, 2024.

DeKalb County Fire Rescue reported to the scene of a fire at Town Brookhaven Sunday afternoon.

A total of 21 units and 39 personnel responded to the fifth floor of the parking garage of Goodwynn at Town Brookhaven Apartments, located at 705 Town Boulevard, where a car reportedly caught on fire.

There have been no injuries or structure damage reported.

Crews worked to ventilate multiple floors of the multi-use building while residents were evacuated.

FOX 5 Atlanta Anchor Tom Haynes, who happened to be at the scene, interviewed a few of the residents. One woman told FOX 5 Atlanta she was able to grab her cat, Sesame, before they had to leave the complex.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation.
