GSP: Man killed on I-20 in Villa Rica
VILLA RICA, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A man is dead after being struck and killed while walking along Interstate 20 in Villa Rica early Tuesday morning.
It happened around 5:50 a.m. near mile marker 24. The Georgia State Patrol said the man was walking west in the right westbound lane when a 2015 Nissan Versa merging onto the interstate from Georgia Highway 61 struck him, throwing him into the center lane. Troopers said the man was struck by several vehicles.
I-20 was closed for a little more than two hours while crews worked the scene.
The name of the pedestrian has not yet been released, but investigators did confirm it was not the escapee from Carroll County.
