Gunfire from Gun Club Road parking lot wounds 2 children inside apartment

ATLANTA - Two children were shot as they sat on a couch in their apartment on Gun Club Road in northwest Atlanta on Thursday night, according to Atlanta police.

Officers with the Atlanta Police Department responded at approximately 11:34 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 9-year-old with a gunshot wound to the left arm and a 5-year-old who had been shot in the elbow.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the shots were fired from outside the building from the parking lot. It appears that the shooter's target may have been one of the apartments below where the children live.

Detectives with the Aggravated Assault Unit have taken over the investigation. At this time, it is unknown if any arrests have been made or possible suspects identified.
