3 in custody after stealing car, fleeing from officers, police say

Auto theft suspects arrested

It was a dramatic scene during the noon hour in a highly traveled area of Gwinnett County. That’s where police tracked down two men accused of stealing a car and bailing on foot when police tried to stop them. It happened near the Sonesta Simply Suites on Shackleford Road near Pleasant Hill Road.

Police in Gwinnett County say three people are in custody after stealing a car and then running from officers on Friday afternoon.

SKYFOX 5 flew over Sonesta Simply Suites on Shackleford Road near Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth. The hotel is less than a two-mile drive from Gwinnett Place Mall. 

Officers led a person in handcuffs near the hotel. Police K-9s appeared to find another person near an ambulance.

The car was reported stolen tp police from an apartment complex on Summer Ridge Lane.

Police say officers spotted the Toyota Camry and tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver would not stop and attempted to out run the police. Officers pursued them. That's when the trio jumped out and made a run for it, but police caught up with them and had them in handcuffs in no time.

The names of the suspects have not been released.
